It is a small mountain village in Ruifang District, New Taipei City. In the past, nine households lived in this village, and it was called Jiufen (九份) because nine houses were divided into necessities brought in from nearby villages, and later became the official nomination. It was an isolated village until 1893, but gold veins were found in this area and the village was developed by people flocking to the gold mines. In particular, it enjoyed a boom during the Japanese colonial rule, and there are still Japanese-style buildings built at that time to this day, giving you a unique atmosphere that combines Chinese and Japanese cultures. During World War II, prisoners of war camps were set up, where allied prisoners of war worked in gold mines. After the end of the war, the gold mine gradually declined, and it was closed in 1971. In 1989, the film Bijeongsheng City, which was shot in the background of this village, gained great popularity and began to become famous as a tourist attraction.
