.There is a record that it was the royal castle of Onjo, the progenitor of Baekje, and there is a record of ‘Jujangseong’ built in Hansanju in the 12th year (672) of King Munmu of Silla during the Nadang War. In the 4th year of King Injo of the Joseon Dynasty (1626), the central part of the castle was completed, and after the Byeongja Horan, it was enlarged several times, including Bongam Fortress and Hanbong Fortress in the east, to achieve the present shape. It was a secure place for the Joseon royal family where the dynasty and the people could evacuate with the people by building a fortress city in a location that was relatively easy to access from Seoul. When the Qing dynasty invaded in the 14th year of King Injo, the king fled to this place and is famous for resisting the battle for 47 days. Despite intentional damage during the Japanese colonial period, reduction of symbolism, and destruction of villages due to the Korean War, it has maintained its original appearance through excavation and restoration.
