A city in the middle of Vietnam's constricted waist that stretches north and south. With a population of about 1.21 million as of 2019, it is the fifth largest city after Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Hai Phong [1] and Can Tho. It is also the region where Napoleon III, the French emperor who later colonized Vietnam, entered the country's first office. At the time, it was called the French name of Tourane. It is known by the name 峴港 in the Chinese language.
