Hoi An's traditional Southeast Asian trade port is perfectly preserved. The ancient city of Hoi An is a wonderfully preserved example as a traditional Asian international trade port, and a remarkable example of the fusion of many cultures as the center of international trade for a long time. This city has been perfectly preserved as a special example of a traditional Southeast Asian trade port, and is the only city in Vietnam that remains unspoiled.
Most of the buildings are built according to the traditional architectural style of the 19th and 20th centuries, and are lined up along narrow streets of the traditional type. Buildings include religious buildings related to the development of the port community, such as towers, temples, and meeting places. Traditional lifestyles, religions, customs, and recipes have been preserved, and many festivals are held every year.
Archaeological discoveries and excavations have revealed: The Sa Huynh people have built ports and trade centers in the area from the 2nd century BC along the Tubon River. Hoi An Port continued to expand and flourished especially from the late 16th century to the early 18th century. It was through Hoi An that Christianity came to Vietnam in the 17th century.
