Yangjaecheon-gil
.
Yangjaecheon, which originates from Mt. Gwanak and Mt. Cheonggye, flows through Gwacheon City, Seocho-gu, and Gangnam-gu, is a river that reaches the Han River at the confluence of Tancheon. This river, which used to be a natural river, was renovated mainly for festivals and revetment projects after 1963, but as part of the Gaepoto district readjustment project in the 1970s, maintenance projects such as reservoir maintenance and concrete levee construction were carried out. Before the start of the Natural River Restoration Project in 1995, Yangjae Stream fell into a dirty, foul-smelling urban sewer where no single fish could be seen.
The Yangjae Stream natural river restoration project was largely divided into two phases. The first period, the first period, is a water purification project and a natural river maintenance project conducted from 1995 to 1998 under the name of the river park treatment project, and from 2002 until 2002, it is a nature that brings rivers closer to nature, such as greening and creating low wetlands. The Hyung River Restoration Project was in progress. At this time, a 40,000m² Hakyeoul Ecological Park was also built at the junction of Yangjaecheon and Tancheon.
If you look at Yangjae Stream in cross section, you can see a natural reservoir, a dull waved by reeds in autumn, a cheonbyon wetland to maintain various ecosystems, a natural embankment from which concrete was removed, a walking trail made of tall tree tunnels instead of roads, and meta sequoia over 30 years Rows of trees appear continuously. This deep ecological environment is the charm of Yangjae Stream. Several years ago, cafes, workshops, and furniture stores began to gather on this street, which is becoming a new cultural and economic vitality in this area, which is an underdeveloped multi-family housing area.

Yangjaecheon is a space loved by bicycle enthusiasts and office workers who enjoy walking during lunchtime on weekdays as well as on weekends. The best thing about Yangjaecheon was to give more space to nature. As citizens' demands to enjoy this place increase, we must be wary of the error of increasing the pavement area for people for political purposes. The correct role of the public is to induce cultural vitality in surrounding areas with this huge open space in the background rather than in Yangjaecheon.
